Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Guys I know took his boat out of Redondo beach. Score some nice ling, and rock fish in 200' of water. Thought the regs state you can't fish for rock fish any shallower then 300'. I'm I getting this wrong???

Yup
Yes to answer the question of rock fishing being the byproduct while bass fishing. You will need to release the catch of rock fish after January 1 2013 until March of 2013.

The new regulation for rock fish is 300ft. There is local areas that you can find them at 100 or 200 like reported above. Just don't let you boat get caught sitting in 300 plus feet of water..

So anything less then 300' is ok after March. That works for me, don't feel like dropping that deep anyways .....haha.
