Was just wondering if all the fish living in kelp bed are active during the winter month. I don't really care what they are anything from sheephead, perch, bass, rockfish, spanish jack, cuda, sargo, bonata, ect...... what ever is out there. I need to go do some fishing........ Any idea??????
Yes sir! Kelp active all year... Some days more than others. This time of the year it's good... I have found that calico fishing when it's hot water temp wise slows down. Now to cold is lock jaw but right now yes. Like typical winter fishing, gotta slow the retrieve down... Some days you get them at the surface and others you gotta find pockets and jig the bottom. Anytime of the year kelps can be hot.. Tournament fishing is now and even in February and they still bring 20 plus pounds.. With the offshore challenge in January they get 25 lb bags.. Get em bud
Perch with squid in kelps all year, halibut on the edge of kelps.. Lucky yellows and seabass as well. Right place at the right time too LOL

Sound good to me. If I ever get a day off from work this next week or some time in the near future, and the condition is right. Let make a run Mikey. You down for taking Offishialbusiness machine out to the kelp line!!!!....... Maybe a combo trip for kelp critter and bugs.... Big Grin
