Went fishing yesterday.

Took the family out fishing yesterday. Went down to Imperial County, and had pretty good day of fishing. Was a bit hot out yesterday though. We caught carp, largemouth bass, bluegills, striper, and some catfish.

Carp are all about this size, caught on corn n crawler.

Anyways I got this crazy idea to smoke up some carp today. Let see if I can make this ugly thing edible .......lol

Had it brine for 48 hours. In water, brown sugar, kosher salt, clove, and black pepper mixture.

On the smoker now w some sweet n spicy rub. Let see what happen in 8 hours...lol....Just in case this a total disaster I have chicken in the fridge for back up...

Here the verdict on my smoke carp experiment. Tastes just like any good old smoke fish, not bad at all. The Y bones is a pain though, and stay away from the dark meat. Next time I'm gonna give baracuda a try.
