I told him that he should of wacked it and maybe prevent it from spreading if it does spread... i'll forward it to some buddies and see if they know what it is..
from your pictures - it looks like a viral infection known as
lymphocystis(lymph)there is a product called quick cure made by aquarium
products that claims to be the only chemical on the market to treat
this problem.
it could also be a bacterial infection known as
flexi-bactor if you had a microscope you could do a scraping and it
would look like a ball of wiggling little white worms--if its spreading
to all your fish fast this is more then likely your problem and a good
anti-biotic such as penicilan or nitroprofinol(furanase is the product
name and is made by aquarium products)should do the trick .You can add
mela-fix at the same time if you like to quicken healing time

i know a few years back the Colorado river had a huge die off of the carp, its herpes. and yes the same herpes people get, i dont remember any growths like that, i have seen parasites do that to fish, its ugly and will harm the fish too. if your catching lots like that then call into DFW. if its here and there, bring some bleach and poor a little on the spots and release the fish.
