Stuck to the game plan and it paid off! Fished seabass the first night and had a nice little go-a-round on the schoolie models. All the clients got a sample. Next day was tough, but I knew the mornings have not been good at Cat, so we just fished calico bass until the afternoon bite. As soon as the sun started to go down, it was game on for the bigger yellows. Later that night we set up to make squid (needed more after all the bass) and we got our anchor stuck, like permanently. Waited til this morning and it was still hung for good. Cut the rope and went to drifting. We did hook one really nice halibut for the grand slam, but pulled the hook. Tragic! Had to get home at a decent hour but ended up finding a kelp right in front of Avalon. "Hello Yellows!" More nice grade yellowbellys. Great trip.
