Penn is top of the line. Im tired of the new generation sucking off Shimano. You new generation fisherman are only following Shimano because of certian faces ect.. Biggest complaint you here " Well Penn doesnt have a small 2 speed!" True, but why? Why do you need a 2 speed of that reel size? It doesnt make since. When you need to use the 50's, 30's, 12vs, ect then you may need of some low gear torque. Im not saying all youth is like this because i know a lot of young fisherman that have learned for an ol dog and listened. Its the "I know everything type guys, and you cant tell me nothing" guys that dont see the true value of a Penn. 2 speed is for big fish

Very True about this topic. My 2 speed 50w is awesome on big sharks, when they get tired and start just swimming away slow and dont want to play nice, i drop a gear and pull them around. other than that a 2 speed lil reel on kelps and stuff would not be beneficial because of light line issue of break off point. just my thoughts...

Yep Penn are one of the best reel I ever put my hands on. I bought the International 975 when it first came out. Caught hundreds of ocean and fresh water species with it. And she still run like a champ......

Speaking of that, I was at the tackle shop the other day... And a guy diving found a Phenix rod and a penn 975.. She still ran like a champ, bearings spun, thumb bar a little tight, they believe it was in the water no more than a month.. This was found at Catalina

That a nice find for sure. Around $500 in to that set up I'm guessing.
