Catalina, SBI and SCI Fish Reports

Fish Report for Sunday, October 14th:

THRESHERS!!!: I am getting text “play-by-plays” on the local thresher fishing. Flat, greasy calm conditions and some biters. No details yet, but they were going on the intel from this site. Thanks Josh.

Offshore: Tropical Storm “Paul” has spun out to the west and is right in our window. This may send a band of energy our way that could either help the offshore stuff stay where it is or push it up yet again. Today private boats found a few exotics in very fishable weather. Look west of the 1010 at the 213 and as far up as the 390. The real meat is now below and in front of San Martin Island, and it sounds like a bigger grade of fish.

Catalina: Plenty of squid and a shot at a seabass or yellow along the back. The calico bass fishing is fair to excellent with the live squid.

SCI: It sounds like a few straggler rat yellows are around but the big volume in gone. Take a tank of live squid here and have fun with the calicos.

Lobster: This hoop netting thing has gotten completely out of hand, and I want nothing to do with it. It just like the angry confrontations on the kelps this year, and the drama on the squid grounds during this years coastal seabass bites. Until everyone can figure out that this is supposed to be fun, and we are all supposed to work together (not against each other) then I am not going to report any lobster BS. Keep it simple guys. If someone already has hoops on a spot, then you are too late and MUST find a new spot. If someone found a kelp before you, too friggin’ bad, move on. If someone is catching seabass, don’t anchor and try to catch some too, LEAVE! This mentality that the best way to find fish is to follow other boats is insane. This is the reason I quit surfing after 25 years, too many idiots.
