I'm slowly finding a new love for mono over braid! Mono is designed differently these days. Built smaller, higher strength, not bulky, also built invisible more so than the older "mono" days. I know they both serve a purpose. But I do like the mono these days

mono and braid are two different animals, then toss in the hi-bred stuff and fluorocarbon, wow its insane.
-Mono you get the flex and stretch, different colors for preference and conditions.
-Braid you get your choice of dark colors but strength that is dia. of 10lb test but it 30 lb strength. there is awesome flex but no stretch to it.
-Hi-Bred line costly strong and a fit between the 2 above from my understanding, cant say much except it is costly as all get out.
-Fluorocarbon line more dense cost a little bit more and becomes almost invisible, the abrasion factor is better than the old stuff.

Mono is just built different today. Like the new berkley prospec is insane. Dorado fishing on 12 lb test. never once lfelt like it was stretching and gonna break.

i like how small the braid is......i fish with 15lb on my curado e50, which is about 4lb dia of mono and 30lb on my 2 200e7's which is about 8 dia mono...... so i can put alot on there. Another thing, the spiderwire stealth braid is teflon coated whick means i can fling a 1/16 oz jig head a mile and a half!!
