Letting my dog out in the back yard early this morning. Heard some quacking, and my dog went crazy. Walked out on the grass and saw about 30 ducks going over head. Look like they showed up just in time for the opener this weekend.

Scouted Wister on the last "legal" Sunday that the roads were open -- saw several thousand ducks and 4 specks! I heard that the unit manager, Rick, said there are even more now and the first snow goose has already been spotted. It's going to be a great season, folks!

It's been good at Wister so far! Got a buddy taking his Dad down to San Jac this Saturday -- he drew #15!!!! In all of the years I've been hunting and the few years I've tried to get drawn there, I've never gotten in. It's been said that San Jac is holding good numbers of teal, mallards and pintails ... and even a few honkers are hanging around! I wish them well!
