COB fish report for Monday the 20th

ALBACORE?!: Only time will tell if this single private boat albie is real or BS. For now it all looks like the real deal. (Fingers crossed) **And just as fast as it came up, it now appears to be bullshit.** Haha, very funny guys. I guess we’ll have to wait for someone that actually knows how to fish to say they caught one before we believe it.
.
Catalina: This place came to life almost overnight. 1st quarter moon (please don’t make me say “I told you so”) and WOW, what a difference. Seabass from the middle back around to Hen Rock. ALMOST every spot has fish, but its an afternoon deal for sure. Yellows on the front, east. Clean warm water and when the current gets going, watch out! I looked at some of this stuff and wished I’d had more time. Plenty of squid here. I was fishing night time bass in shallow water on the back and it floated. The receiver has bait, and there are light boats over at Cat selling it. The shortage is over.
.
Offshore: Yellows on kelps outside the Coronados today. 8-12lb fish and biting.
.
Coastal: Where do I start. Yellows and seabass on the kelp lines above and below Dana. You can figure it out, as I don’t want to say EXACTLY where and get angry phone calls again. (If you want to get mad, get mad at the guy you told, and then told me). Clean blue water on the Shoe and Flats means a few cudas and better bass fishing. There is squid local too, but that one I am keeping for me.
.
Channel Islands: Seabass in the counts from up this way again. (Again guys, its in the fish counts!). Nice to see a big spread of fish up and down the coast now. With exotics from Ensenada to the Channel Islands, the chances for a pileup and now at a minimum.
.
Tournament: I think most, (if not all) had a fun time. The weather was good and there was plenty of bait to go around. I got the feeling that most either caught a fish or had their chances. Pat from the Western Outdoor News put together a great event, so thanks Mr. McDonald! I did not hear of any drama other than the asshole on the fuel dock in the Isthmus that asked me if my Captain On Board shirt “earned me the respect I wanted it to.” What an asshole. What is it with the few fishermen these days that feel like they have to be rude? If you take fishing so seriously that it is no longer a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and make nice friends let me be the first to say “do us all a favor and take up golf you pompous prick.” I did take note of what boat he was on, and am going through the motions of finding out exactly who this guy was (old man). If you read this Mr. Nobody I have ever seen before, “your welcome” for me not kicking your ass right there in front on everybody.
.
**UPDATE**: I am leaving again tomorrow to fish Catalina. Quick turnaround to get over, get limits and get back home. I will post a report when I get back.
