Guadalupe Island Update-EIR
Ladies & Gentlemen,
... This email is a followup to our meeting regarding Guadalupe Island. If anyone wishes to go to the Island this year or the following please read the following information.
EIR
We have spoken with several Biologists about creating an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) required by SEMARNAT and CONANP for entering the protected Island. The best deal we could find would cost each vessel Approximately $3000.00.
If you are interested in SAC obtaining your EIR permit(if needed) please email or call Michelle Gandola by Monday July 23rd. If you decide to proceed with the EIR process you will be required to make a 50% deposit to the SAC at a designated time.
The EIR will take the biologist 6 weeks to complete and 60-90 days for SEMARNAT to approve. Ricardo Arredondo recommends that no vessel enter the Island Biosphere until the have an EIR.
Checking in at Ensenada
Before heading to Guadalupe Island each vessel will have to submit to a Port inspection in Ensenada. This is the same process as last year.
SCT Permit
Every vessel going to Guadalupe must also purchase a SCT Nautical or Tourism permit. The cost of this permit is approximately $1050. Many of you already have this permit. If you are interested in SAC obtaining this permit for you for the purpose of going to Guadalupe Island, please contact Michelle Gandola by Monday July 23rd.
We are available for question by phone or email. Thank you!
