got back last week from a 5 day on the American Angler. First day was yellowfin close to home. Second day we moved to the Cortez Bank to get a shot at those big bluefin. Only 30 of them were caught that day, the biggest going at 81lbs caught by fisherofmen. I caught two, one at 45lbs and the other at 72lbs. Third day we were back on the yellowfin to finish up limits and by noon they sunk out so we made a long trek south to fish some quality yellowtail. Arrived at canoas point the following day around 1 and had excellent fishing on tails from 18-30lbs going on everything. Yoyo, surface iron, and bait. Loved the surface iron because watching them yellows blow up on them is like nothing else. The next day we made a move to san Martin island to be a little closer to home. There were no signs of yellows so we went to a ling cod sweet spot and had limit style fishing on big lings and reds. That's how our journey ended.
