5 day Vagabond Tiny Charter
#1
This is a report from my annual Charter called the "Tiny Charter" It was started 12 years ago and goes every year, this year we changed it up to a 5 day trip. It was well worth the change this year. The charter was a OneCoolTuna / Inox Lube sponsored trip and we had Steve Carson on board with Penn. It was a great trip with lots of Penn's newest gear and give aways. Penn is on the come back with some new reels that are made in the USA. We left Point Loma on the Vagabond on Wed. and started fishing Thursday 200 miles south. The Bluefin and Yellowfin started biting around noon and did not stop. We stopped on paddies as well for Yellowtail and DoDo, the Yellowtail were mostly small rats with a few keepers. The tuna where in the 25 to 40lb range. On Sat we got a meter mark at noon, we stopped the boat and did not start the motors till 6:30pm, a 6 1/2 hour drift.... Oh my it was epic bite.. There was one boil that came through where I grabbed my 50lb rig and casted off the back corner and in 5 sec. got bite and had it on the deck in a minute, I then repeated that 2 more times. 3 30lb Bluefins in less than 5 min. I then took a break... This was one of the bites I have been on in a long time. We limited on Yellowfin, 200+ Bluefin, 50+ Yellowtail in the 15 to 24lb. and limits of DoDo's. I ended up with 3rd place in the Jackpot with a 34lb Yellowfin. Frank got Jackpot with a 43lb Yellowfin.

Wow congrats on your trip. Good to see that the numbers are coming up. How are the crew from the vagabond? oh and if you cant eat all that fish i can definately assist.
men and fish are alike. we both get in trouble when we open our mouths.

The Vagabond is one the best what I call "Blue Collar Boats" not the fanciest boats, but the best run boats and a capt. and crew that is the best. They make you feel like you are family and Capt. Mike wants everyone to catch fish, he will go the extra mile to make sure of that.. 20+ years of fishing SD, that is the boat I fish the most.
