you have to do your homework, know when the fish are in the area, cant make them always come to you. need to go find them. as captain said if you find them they will eat, they are not that smart.

Here is the best way I know of to catch a seabass while in the learning stages of how to catch one. Take the money you typically spend on a trip (fuel, food, bait, launch etc.) and put it into a 6-pak trip on the "Dreamer" with Allyn Watson. Thats what I did back in the 80's when he ran the "Wicked Wahine." You'll probably catch one (or many) but more importantly, you'll learn all the basic fundamentals of how to fish seabass FIRST HAND. Allyn is not super chatty when it comes to "how' and "why", but if you pay attention, you'll get the basics. Hot to set up and where, how to fish and chum, and when. That is for Catalina and SCI. For coastal Seabass book a trip with Brandon Hayward. Google "One Man Charters" for contact info. With Brandon you will get more instruction, and he does trips with just one guy (so you don't have to work at getting 5 other people for a 6-pak). While I write articles and how-to stuff, nothing replaces hands on experience. I take guys out on their boats and teach them how to catch a seabass or yellowtail, but my schedule for 2013 is totally booked with all the same clients I've run boats for in the past. Feel free to e-mail me before a trip for last minute intel. If you don't ask the right questions, I'll point that out and point you in the right direction. That's if I am where my phone works. I do my best to help guys catch their first and learn the ropes. A crowd of seasoned pro's is better than a crowd of guys that are learning. I just wish everyone else would figure that out and quit keeping secrets. My personal e-mail is: captjeffjones@gmail.com You can call my cell too: 1(562)704-9545 Call for intel or better yet, to give me a report. I need more guys calling me with reports!!! It helps everyone.
