Yes your right, but on the west coast we don't utilize gear that could make the job easier. One may be money, we aren't all blessed with money trees, so we just fish what we got. We aren't gonna by gear for a one certain style of fishing. The yo-yo jig was an example of certain technique that spinning gear can be used for. We are programmed to fish convention gear. Why not the use of spin gear?

Personal preference. My grandfather bought a spinner for the yearly 5 day because he thought it would be easier for him since he is getting older. After about 15 minutes he was done with it...

I like the spin set up for lots of applications, i also like the bait caster too. its truely a preference...
