Just got off another great 1.5 day trip on Voyager Sportfishing. Been chartering this boat for three years now and never had any complain. The fish god was good to us and bless us with nice kelp paddy fishing on quality yellowtail and Yellowfin tuna fishing. Which we ended up with limit on the YFT. It started out slow and steady pick then went wide open at the end of the day "on light line"
Started out at 100 miles sound of San Diego the jig went in and we got strike on small yft around 7am. Cedar plug was the ticket, and our water temp was 67.9°-68.7°
We get jig strike on Yellowfin every half hour or so. Just after lunch we troll by a small paddy and got triple hookup on nice grade Yellowtail. This guys wanted to chew live bait, iron, flat fall, colt sniper, and poppers. They were eating everything. We ran in to kelp loaded with rats yt all day.
Some yellowtail sashimi for afternoon snacks. With OT spicy n sour sashimi sauce
After Yellowtail was done with us we put the troller back in "all cedar plug" and went looking. About 5pm we hit massive sonar school of yellowfin tuna with fish blowing up all around the boat and down to 80' on the meter, but they were line shy to start out. Not shy to bite the proper though. Everyone throwing #20 or lighter was instently bit. I was fishing with #15 on a bass rod....lol
When all set and done we ended up with boat limit.
My final tally
End our day with a fine steak New York steak dinner last night
And tonight dinner with sashimi plate, grill Yellowfin collar, Yellowfin belly, and Yellowtail belly.
Great way to end the trip. Til next time...... Tight line everyone.
