I had a great day of bass fishing on the Dana pride today. I had checked the reports for the past few days. They had been fishing rockfish and not doing a very good job of it. I much prefer to fish the surface than rockfish but fishing is fishing and I came to the landing ready for anything. My bottom fishing rod never left the rack. We had a super light load with around 30 people with the boat capable of fishing a little less than 100 people. We fished kelp beds all day and absolutely cleaned up on the bass. A lot of shorts but a lot of quality fish as well. There were even a few sheepshead and a small white seabass mixed in there. I switched off all day between a small flylined sardine on a #2 hook and a shimano colt sniper stick with which I caught my only keeper. The boat was great, food was great, and the heads were actually clean!
P.S. you know you cleaned up on the bass when your thumb looks like this at the end of the day!
