There's and old Fisherman's Prayer that goes like this:
God, grant that I may live to fish
until my dying day
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray
When in the Lord's safe landing net
I'm peacefully asleep,
that in His mercy I be judged
big enough to keep.
It's a fun little prayer, written in a day and age where the goal of fishing was to keep what you catch. Today, however, many of us release our fish. We enjoy watching fish like the one above swim away almost as much we enjoy catching them in the first place. So with that in mind, I thought I'd rewrite the prayer as follows:
God, grant that I may find time to fish
Along life’s busy way
And when it comes time to cast
Then I most humbly pray
That I sense the Good Lord’s presence
So my struggling, it can cease
And by his grace and mercy
Find the freedom of release.

until my dying day
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray
When in the Lord's safe landing net
I'm peacefully asleep,
that in His mercy I be judged
big enough to keep.

Let God lead the way!
Give a man a fish he eats for one day, teach him to fish he eats forever!
