There was a day i used to hunt
#1
In the first new post of the Offishial Business Blog, i mentioned about shattering my elbow. Well that changed my hunting days. Soon we will be back at it and doing some other added things.
I have hunted in other states and hunted many species from birds both waterfowl & upland game, deer, bear, elk and pigs, maybe a few other things not popping into my head. For this blog i am going to choose to talk and remissness about SoCal Deer hunting. i will not give exact locations. Please do not ask for them. Realizing i really do not have any pictures you will need to just believe me. From the Cleveland national forest to the desert of Blythe, Big bear and into Idyllwild i have seen some amazing animals.
The first of many adventures as a young adult, not hunting with my elders was Cleveland national forest at about 17 yrs old. A good friend at the time and i decided we where going to get a deer and knew a few spots. Two main issues with this area; number 1 its thick, number 2 lots of traffic and pressure and C they are pretty much nocturnal. now 20 plus years later i am wanting to go scout the area only because of the huge Holy Jim fire. Needless to say i never did shoot a deer out of that area. The next area was a phone call from another close friend who said i have a buddy who has a spot. Well we all know or should have known how that ends up. Being Young and full of piss and vinegar i said lets go. Off to Idyllwild area we went. Now before i get into this much deeper, I must tell you some in site i learned much later about this buddy and his tracking skills. the year prior he went to an area Cherry Valley which there are deer, however he claimed that there where game trails galore and deer signs every where. WOW, so my good friend went out with him, now he is a ranch man, Said you done found where they just ran sheep for 2 to 3 weeks.

OK so back to the adventure hunt with this Guy. As we drive up hwy 74 he notes that we will turn off and there is a spring. he had scouted it 2 weeks prior and saw 3 bucks and numerous does. This is opening weekend by the way. We only passed 4 parked trucks from the turn off to where his spot is. long story short i saw 1 doe and 6 or 7 other hunters.

As the years passed i and that season too i started scouting and honing my skills for that area. I was successful too, for many years. Saw a lot of big bucks either out of range or on private land. It became a bit tougher year by year with more pressure and more people building. Then the fire of 2007 hit the area. Well this is where i am liking the idea of going back to the Cleveland area, because it cleared areas in Idyllwild that where too thick and opened up the grassing areas. The deer really spiked and we saw more and more including bigger deer. After 2009 my time and funds where short, didnt hunt that much. However i did go scout here and there.
Then 2014 came and had my tags new girlfriend was ready to go. Then life changed on October 14th i shattered my right arm. Game over for a min. Now 6 years later arm is pretty much back together and ready to go hunt. I will say California, well SoCal is not the best for deer hunting. However it can still fill the tag or give you that adventure and experience.

As i stated before i suck at writing but its something. Side note the picture of the green pond is also where 5 big cats hang out.
