Report for today

This morning we left Dana Point at 2 AM and got some awesome bait from the receiver. The winds and swells were up and we got it handed to us. We made it to the 209 and found 4 kelp paddies. 3 were empty and the 4th one was only holding fire cracker rat yellows. I hooked and released a small 7incher. I've never seen one that small. We trolled from the 209 to the 289 and the ocean was big. We got nothing on the troll and saw not a paddy anywhere. With the winds increasing and white caps becoming more and more, we started to troll back. We trolled from the 289 to the 277 to the 209 and found one paddy only holding nothing but a sunfish. We packed it in and headed home. Fun heck of a day, but it wasn't our tuna day. Come to find out we were only a few miles away from where they were. According to the boats gauge, we were in 74-76 degree water. I hope it continues and we get another shot at a tuna bite.

Sounds about right, it was crappy out there!
we went to sci and had big water conditions and heavy winds.

We did hoot one tuna and lost it at gaff, other than that 10 sheep-head and a few nice calico's
not to bad on the way home with the conditions you mentioned saltwater bass. it laid down for us on the return trip.
