Penn makes Squall both in lever drag and in the star drag. The star drag family is SQL 12,15,25n, 30,40. The lever Family is SQL30,40,50,60LD

As for your request in pairing up with a 9ft jig stick. Your best bet is gonna be to get to a tackle shop and sit the reel on it first. A 9fter base maybe a little to wide for the smaller class Penn Reels (Cant speak for other manufactures reels but I'd check them out too first). The 30 and 40 size no problem. The 25n may fit depending on the jig stick your using.
Your ideal surface iron reel would be the Squall 25n or even the Fathom 25n. Now with putting 40lb on it will you be using braid backing? If not, you'll want to move to the 30 size reel for line cap.

Oat check the width of the reel sit and the reel it's self. Make sure it's gonna for that beast rod.

The 30 would be a great fit for it, but would you consider paying a few bucks more and get the Fathom 30? Great reel and its the low end reel of the big brother Torque series.
Now when talking about gear ratio keep in mind that if the ratios are near each other the line
recovery plays a roll as well
Cortez 12 6:2:1 w/38" 18.4oz
Penn Squall 30 6:0:1 w/40" 18.5oz
Penn fathom 30 6:0:1 w/40" 18.4 oz
Daiwa seagate 40 6:4:1 w/48" 21.30 oz
Looking at this spec above Daiwa wins the battle when comparing ratio and line recover but it's heavy and when adding 40 lb on a 9 foot rod. It's gonna hurt if the bite goes WFO. I'd say the winner out of the 4 above if you were to consider the Fathom, would be the Penn Fathom 30. Weighs less ratio and line recovery good but the mechanic of its surpasses the Okuma and Daiwa.
