OK, so sitting in my office when ShannonJ walks in and can tell i am stressed out to the 10s. said lets go hunt. i finished up some paper work then agreed to go grabbed the rifles and my bow. she has her general tag as i do but i also have my AO tag. we drive to get fuel and a beer for later yummy beer! oh sorry back to the sorry.
we get up to the mtn where we decided to just drive the roads and glass the meadow its 5:45 by this time. i had told her the deer would move late they become nocturnal pretty quick up in this area, once season opens. we get to the second meadow and she said DEER! we slowly stop and get out 4 deer 300 yard dark is closing in i loose 1 before we can get out, then 2 more slipped off then the smaller buck walks almost to us. YEP we lost light at this point all i could see where his spikes i think the one side was forked, but i wasnt chancing it. 3rd area she see another i saw a little movement but again to dark. well its not over yet. coming down the paved road home pushing 8:15 i was joking about hitting a deer.
We didnt but almost one of the biggest bucks in 15 years of hunting D19 i have seen was on the side of the road, Monster 4x4 10 feet from the truck 40 mph, i turned around unzipped my bow case, Never to be seen again. then i thought what am i thinking its illegal to shot after dark and from the HWY.
Well all in all awesome night saw some great animals and as always its not always the Kill its the experience and time in the outdoors.
Home and in bed at 9:50. Now we know where to go set up at....
