It's heating up early and the fish are following the lead...

A report right from the source:

The week of June 1 - June 8

Water – 79 to 82 degrees. Water is warm, flat, and clear.

Air – Warm…highs in the mid-90s with cooling easterly afternoon winds.

The Environment:

It's nearly summer time and the fishing is easy for our anglers as the sea and air temps continue to climb. However, an easterly breeze each afternoon helps cool things down.

The Bottom Line:

We slipped down to a 7 on our 1 - 10 scale as the dorado slowed slightly.

Marlin – Two or three releases per day have been common. Off the ledge from La Ribera to the Lighthouse taking ballyhoo with trolled lures and live caballito. Jumpers and tailers are providing a visual show almost everywhere!

Dorado – Limits for all anglers early in the week, but the bite slowed Friday. Average fish weighed around 12 pounds with the largest weighing 47 pounds…bigger fish this week than last from 200 meters to 3 miles offshore, Punta Arena and south to the Pulmo Park boundary. All baits were working.

Roosterfish – All beaches have been productive. Larger Gallo's in the 50- to 60-pound class are being taken daily just south of the lighthouse in about 50 to 75 feet of water with the boats drift-fishing live caballito producing the best results.

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch …

Pargo. pompano, amberjack- Very good bottom fishing! Big pargo to 40 pounds, amberjack from 40 to 60 pounds, pompano in the 8- to-15 pound class. Anglers opting to work the bottom are scoring well.

looking good down that way.
Let God lead the way!
Give a man a fish he eats for one day, teach him to fish he eats forever!
