While I was trying to find some fishing spots for our camping trip to La Jolla this weekend I came across something interesting. Apparently, there are 2 days a year that the California Dept. of Fish & Wildlife allow you to fish with out a license. While there are a few restrictions that are based on what you are fishing:
•abalone
•steelhead
•sturgeon
•spiny lobster
•or salmon in the Smith and Klamath-Trinity River Systems.
it sounds like a great way to get people who aren't sure if they would like fishing to try it out without paying a bunch of fees. This year those dates are/were: July 4th and Sept 5th. If you want more details check out the link below...
