Diamond Valley Lake report (FH)
#1
The largemouth bass bite has been improving with the warmer weather over
the past week. The fish are still mostly in deeper water, but they have
been showing in 15 to 60 feet. The fish are either on deeper structure
tight to the bottom or suspended under schools of shad. Some bigger bass
are showing on trout-like swimbaits. The striper bite is back on at the
inlet-outlet tower on anchovies or sardines and in the area below the
marina store on trout-like swimbaits. Jesse Mena, Hemet, landed a
29.6-pound striper on a Matt Lure. The trout bite has been fair with the
most recent plant two weeks ago and the next plant will next week. The
best action has been on PowerBait, small trout jigs, and Power Worms (or
similar plastics). David Cruz, Redlands, landed a 5.96-pound rainbow.
Catfish and panfish have been absent. Private boats must be inspected
for zebra and quagga mussels. Boats with wet lower units will be turned
away. For general lake and launch information, call 800-590-LAKE. For
fishing and boat rental info call the marina at 951-926-7201 or
www.dvmarina.com or Last Chance Bait and Tackle at 951-658-7410 or
