Back to school trip

So once a year right before school starts @Terri_O plans a trip for her daughter, an end of summer trip/treat. This year in was asked can we take the boat to Catalina and get a mooring, which in turn get a hotel. Of course we can.

Now at this point before leaving I am studying like college final, I haven't ever studied so hard before in my life. Thus my captains licence. Well that flopped as I should have listened to a few captains about the online deal. Well enough of that license will come soon. Back to the real story.
So a little late start to head out on Thursday 1 pm departure via Dana point and a 1/2 scoop of bait and we are island bound.
I do little weather check, gonna be a bit breezy but very doable. Water temps should produce some fish.we found lots of paddys no fish. We hit the island 2 hours later and bam bendo   we ended up 2 Bonita in the bag lost 4 others. Well time to get tied up checked in and figure out the evening.
Made a txt To a great friend about somewhere to eat, thanks captain! Outdoor joint rocked. Then off to a little miniature golf. great history at the plaques to learn about little things of the island.
Well we had to cut breakfast short and our plans. The owner of the mooring was on there way.
We headed out fish and 5 miles off. Said heck lets go enjoy the day on the island. Back to watching the little one enjoy dolphins, golf cart ride, ice cream and deer.
