Left the dock on the Dolpnin on a 5-5 offshore tuna trip today. Probaly got the worst bait I have ever see. Most of it die before we pass the 9 mile bank. Dont take long to locate big school of tuna. Lots of meat out there right now guys, just need to find the right one that want to get with it. We had a really hot bite going before we ran out of bait. Ended up with 21 yft and 1 skipjack. Work the west side of the 9 mile bank and up between 181&182. Seeing fish the whole way, dolphin school holding lots of tuna but with the bait situation we don't stand a chance. All we could do was watch the show as they jump out of the water eating small anchovy. Hot ticket was light like 15-20 lb flourocarbon, small hook #2 #4, and a lively bait. Grade of fish was in the 10 to 30lbs class. Water was dirty green and 72°. Tuna is holding in it though. Did see one nice foamer of 40-90lbs class bluefin but nothing we could do with our bait.
