Me @fisherofmen @choodak and @Matvei went out Saturday to get in on some local tuna action on 8/1. We launched out of dana at 3am to beat the crowd at the bait barge and did. Only one other boat crazy enough to be launching at that time. We putted out about 7-8 miles straight off the point and waited for grey light. Water was 72.5 and things seemed promising until we could see and we could tell there was no life out in this area. We decided to head to the 267 because we saw on temp break there was a patch of warm water out there. We trolled the whole way there for nothing, but as we get in the area we could see the whole fleet was out there and we spotted two patties about 50 yards from each other just off the fleet. We set up drift and got nada. We decide to give it ago once more and this was the right decision. Set up drift again and as we start drifting off we see a huge school like 80 feet down. We start throwing out chunks and keep a steady chum line going and fisher throws on just a chunk or sardine on his line and he gets picked up. As his gets to color its a fire cracker yft. Just as I sink the gaff choodak goes bendo then matvei goes bendo and its complete chaos for the next hour. Had doubles and triples going the whole time and we could see fish all around us, just utter chaos! The boat was plugged with 16 tuna ranging from 20-30lbs. Done by 8am and had to leave them biting. Water was 71.5 and 11 of the 16 fish was caught on 50lb flouro, they were not line shy.
