quick reel review
#1
Ok guys im sorry, but since i didnt originally plan on doing a review on this reel, i dont have any pictures. I bought myself a Wright and McGill ~Skeet Reese~ low profile baitcasting reel. I have had the Matching 7' black/yellow rod for about a year now so i thought id try the reel that was supposed to go with it. Initially unwrapping it, this reel is NICE. Its all black except for the yellow face piece and the yellow Skeet Reese signature on the palm side of the reel. Has a big oversized double-paddle handle. It has 10 bearings, with i believe a 6.2/1 ratio. This reel was kind of rough reeling and had virtually no free spin. Drag was very good, and had a nice clicker on the spool tension adjustment. After inspecting the worm gear, i realized it had no oil on it, so i took it apart. After oiling all the bearings and cleaning off the factory grease and putting fresh new grease on, this reel is AWESOME! VERY smooth.....cant WAIT to get out and use it. And, it looks VERY slick on the matching rod! [Image: reel_zps1a9a12dc.jpg]

Nice report on this whats the cost factor of it? As i have found with lots of reels a good cleaning and some new and good grease makes them come alive as well sometimes just new drag plates as well.
Thanks for the write up.

oh yeah, these normally go for around $90. I got this one on ebay new without the box for $38!! and let me tell ya, i fish with almost exclusively Curados, and this this feels every bit as good in my hand as the Curado. I just dont know for sure the casting performance yet, or how long this reel can withstand the tests of time.
