Another good trip
#1
I am sitting in my office this morning tired as hell, and can't stop thinking how fortunate I am. I have clients that have become great friends, all of them. I can call them at a moments notice and put together a trip at the drop of a hat, and get a boat full of good anglers with the best gear. Watching the sea surface temps and following the fish through trips and reports I have been very lucky this year to be able to see where the fish are going and get on bites early. A few tough trips, but overall its been amazing.

We left on Friday afternoon with 5 guys and myself on the "Fresh One", and as always the owner had put together a crew of hard core killers. A sketchy start after begging the fuel dock to stay open and then a squid light failure locally, we got squid from San Pedro Bait (Nacho had small, spawned out squid we did NOT want). We passed through Angels Gate at 11:30 and had to run all night to get where we wanted to be.

Rolling into the area after the grey sucked, but we did get on the fish and had limits of seabass for 6 guys by 8:30am. Add two nice halibut and it was time to head home, happy again.

The where and when details are again, not as important as going when the fish are biting with no excuses. Putting only good anglers on the boat that work well as a team, with quality tackle and lots of experience. If I had 5 novice anglers we would have barely scratched out a score. Not wide open by any means, we had to work for our bites. That being said, we had seabass biting on 100# Spectra and 100# fluoro and it wash't until the end we started fishing the 30#. Its just not worth losing a fish and risking the whole school swimming away.

On the way home we had so many fish to clean, we literally ignored kelps that were holding, and saw a marlin without even considering tossing a bait. We were DONE!
