2022 archery elk hunt
#1
So when the wife says last day and you know the weather finally broke, ok off I went to find them. I called my hunting buddy and good friend Randy. The afternoon was set.

This guy was at 40 yards not a shooter unfortunately.

When you max out with 60 yards on your archery gear, well they stay 75 to 90 yards out. Found a small herd in which there was not a spike. The cows fair game. With that said the 6x6 at 10 yards was awesome video.

Just could not talk them into coming closer or letting me take the last few steps.

This season was a different hunt like no other. We started out scouting and only found 3 cows over 2 months from that point we knew things where gonna change with monsoons to high hot Temps. On opening day we went to a spot we almost knew would hold and  1 4x4 bull. For nothing we went 2nd day different spot 2 respectable bulls. On another note we say lots of impressive bucks and lots of does with fawns, twins too. 3 more days out 1 cow 3 to 4 hour vertical hike to even try and find her, that didn't happen. Only heard 2 faint bugels all season. Until the last day ( haha ) the bulls as I suspected and cows too went nocturnal most of the season. Back to the cow and dreaded hike. Well that's where we ended up. Tag soup is not on the table yet as I do have an extended tag and plan to head up to another unit. Thank God temperatures are cooling down.
