Thinking about going with a buddy to do some shark fishing this weekend. Trying to pick a place to launch out of. Looking at Dana Point, Hunington Beach, Newport Beach, and Long beach. Anybody have a shark report or forecast for this weekend? Thanks
go to dana head south t-sharks along kelp lines slow troll some small macks or sardines, makos head out to the 1000 foot mark look for color break and temp break
same thing use a bright colored skirt on the macks for the makos

Good luck
A little over a month ago it seemed I heard of mako sharks everyday, now not so much. All I am hearing is from the guys fishing marlin that are hooking them accidentally. Good luck!
depends on what you're looking for TONS of threshers out of long beach both in front and behind the wall

Short run from the launch ramp. Sound like a good plan for me, specially if we go solo. Trip move to next weekend tho

That all good with me, I just want to catch a shark. Been a long time since I get to pull on one. How do you target them at the wall?
How to target threshers off LB break wall. Step one, set up to fish halibut with sardines or small mackerel. Step two, start drifting for halibut. Step three, hook thresher and have fun. Not trying to be a smart ass, but I hook more darn threshers while halibut fishing than any other way. When I try to target them, I hook way less. Don't worry too much about steel leaders, as threshers have small mouths and only a small percentage cut you off for some reason. Nice little bonus when you DO catch a halibut!!!
