I went fishing on the El Dorado out of Long beach Sport fishing on an overnight trip. We left around 9 Friday night and I woke up at 4:30 to find the crew putting out the squid lights. They couldn't find any squid so we moved on. We had giant sardines and frozen squid for bait.
After catching limits of rockfish on different jigs, I switched to using huge sardines on the bottom, I caught over 10 of the biggest salmon grouper I have ever seen on the biggest sardines I could find. A few times my bait came up shredded deep and I think I missed some Lings.
Next the captain pulled up on the kelps beds and let us do some surface fishing. Everyone was in the back of the boat so it was near impossible to fish the kelp, but I managed to fish it for a few minutes and it was almost wide open on top of the kelp. We got back at 930 that night. Thanks for reading!
